Are you interested in robots or robotics? Would you like to design, build, and code a robot. If so please apply for the Greene County Middle School Robotics club. Click on the link below to complete the sign-up process.
Any student interested in attending the NC Aquarium Field Experience on Monday, May 11th 2015 needs to click on the "Field Experience" link to sign-up. Students will have the opportunity to learn about the different aquatic ecosystems in North Carolina. Students will choose one of two educational programs to participate in at the aquarium (Beachcomber’s Biology or Barrier Island Exploration). Students will need to bring a pair of closed toed shoes to participate in the programs. Students will visit the beach and Fort Macon after lunch. They will have the option to relax on the beach or explore the fort. The cost of the trip is $16. You will need to bring money for lunch. All forms and money are due to Ms. Clark no later than . There are only 40 spots available and the spots will be filled on a first come first serve basis.

The 2015 Exploring the Earth Summer Camp could be for you!
NC State University, through the Department of Marine, Earth, and Atmospheric Sciences and The Science House, is offering this FREE weeklong summer day camp. Students will learn about various geoscience topics and participate in laboratory research techniques.
When: June 22-26, 2015
Where: NC State University, Jordan Hall, Raleigh, NC
Who is Eligible: Rising high school juniors and seniors only
Please note this is a day camp and overnight or campus housing will not be provided.
Students will be exposed to research in geology, marine science, and atmospheric science and will participate in research activities in each area. Faculty and counselors from the Marine, Earth and Atmospheric sciences department at North Carolina State University will lead the presentations, activities, discussion, and lab tours. The camp will include several local field trips, including trips to the Museum of Natural Sciences and William B. Umstead State Park.

North Carolina’s intensive research experience where high school students and college faculty advance knowledge of science and mathematics.Summer Ventures in Science and Mathematics is a cost-free, state-funded program for academically talented North Carolina residents who have demonstrated interest in science and mathematics and aspire to a career in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). The program brings rising juniors and seniors together in a residential setting for research and intensive study. The program is currently hosted at four campuses of the university system—Appalachian State University (ASU), East Carolina University (ECU), North Carolina Central University (NCCU), and University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC).

Any stem student interested in attending the trip to puerto rico needs to contact Ms. corbitt or Mr. Garcia for more information. All stem instructors have informational sheets for students interested in the trip. AN informational session will be held on September 10th, 4:30-5:30 at GCHS Media Center.
On Saturday, July 12, 2014 from 9:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., the NC State College of Natural Resources (CNR) will host an Environmental Exploration Day for rising high school juniors and seniors interested in exploring environmental and natural resources careers. Additional details about the program and our application can be found at go.ncsu.edu/explorationday.

The Marine Aquarium Societies of North America (MASNA) is proud to present the 2014 - 2015 MASNA Student Scholarships.
The application for the 2014 - 2015 $4,000 MASNA Student Scholarships is now available.
This year there are two scholarships available; one $4,000 scholarship for a college undergraduate student and one $4,000 scholarship for a college graduate student.
The two $4,000 2014 - 2015 MASNA Student Scholarships are made possible by our generous sponsors Doctors Foster and Smith LiveAquaria.com, Ecotech Marine, and Seachem.
To be eligible for a $4,000 MASNA Student Scholarship, an applicant must be a current/entering undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited college or university.
The student must have declared a major/focus or have intent to declare a major/focus in one of the marine science disciplines.
Selection will be based upon the student’s academic history and the student’s contributions and demonstrated commitment to the marine aquarium hobby.
North American students, no matter where they are studying in the world, as well as students from abroad, who are studying in North America, are eligible, as long as they attend/plan to attend an accredited college or university.
The deadline for submission is June 20, 2014.

NC State's Nuclear Engineering Department is accepting applications to our annual Young Investigators' Summer Program.
High school rising juniors, rising seniors & graduating seniors spend three weeks on-campus as we take them through lectures, labs, small group projects and industrial field trips. Junior Seahawk Academy-Rising 6th, 7th,8th Graders
The 2014 Jr. Seahawk Academy Summer Academy is a one week summer program for students (ages 10-14). The Junior Seahawk Academy’s targets students from both economically disadvantaged and underrepresented populations to develop interests in STEM, health and education careers while participating in various fun, hands-on activities that promote learning. This program for middle school aged students who are interested in participating in unique and creative activities related to STEM, Health fields and general education. The program will be held from Monday, June 16 to Friday, June 20, 2014 from 8:30 am - 12:30 pm. You will be notified via email of the camp orientation before the camp start date of June 16th. All parents/guardians and participants are expected to attend the orientation and return required camp packets.
The aims of the academy are:
*provide a platform for middle school aged students from economically disadvantaged and underrepresented populations to develop interests in STEM, health and education careers while participating in various fun, hands-on activities that promote learning
*provide a supportive environment for youth to showcase their talents as they learn about STEM concepts and careers in health and education
*aid in the implementation of literacy skill for all participants, including support for students with learning disabilities through the integration of science, mathematics and technology experiences.
*increase access of information for students, parents, and the community regarding benefits and accessibility of post-secondary education
Activities this summer will include exciting STEM/Health reading and technology explorations, seminars as well as creative projects to be designed and presented by students.

Junior Seahawk Academy Cancellation Policy Refund/Cancellation Policy: The $60.00 registration fee is non-refundable. We ask that you please contact us at least 2 weeks prior to the start day of the camp if your child is unable to attend the Academy. If a participant is asked to voluntary withdrawal or is expelled from the academy as a result of disciplinary actions no refund will be issued.
