Design Camp registration has opened for our Summer 2018 programs. Camp information and a link to registration can be found online: design.ncsu.edu/designcamp
Did you know? We offer financial assistance scholarships to students in need who show motivation to attend the program and come recommended by one of their teachers. We are anticipating being able to offer a good number of scholarships this year that will cover most program fees (with the exception of the $100 deposit) for students that come highly recommended (that's up to a $1100 fee waiver for overnight camp applicants).
We want to make it possible for students who have interacted with us during visits to your schools and/or in our Field Trips to the Design Lab, the opportunity to take their learning about design to the next level. Please encourage your students who would be likely to attend and benefit from the experience to apply!
If you would like to share with us the names of students you are encouraging to attend, we will look out for their application. Please note that everyone interested in attending Design Camp must submit an application online along with the all supporting documents in order to receive scholarship waivers. We encourage students to go ahead and begin the application soon so that they have plenty of time to gather information needed to complete it.
I have attached a flyer for our 2018 camps. We encourage you to share this information with other teachers at your school whose students might be interested. More information, including information on financial assistance and the registration process can be found online: design.ncsu.edu/designcamp
Combining the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. We call FIRST Robotics Competition the ultimate Sport for the Mind. High-school student participants call it “the hardest fun you’ll ever have.”
Under strict rules, limited resources, and an intense six-week time limit, teams of students are challenged to raise funds, design a team "brand," hone teamwork skills, and build and program industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game against like-minded competitors. It’s as close to real-world engineering as a student can get. Volunteer professional mentors lend their time and talents to guide each team. Each season ends with an exciting FIRST Championship.
Sign-up by Wednesday, February 7th.
