Barrier Island History Workshop:
This week-long workshop is designed to give teachers an understanding of NC barrier islands and longleaf pine ecosystems. The workshop will focus on the relationship between history and ecology, in order to promote an interdisciplinary approach to teaching. The workshop will include daily fieldtrips, including kayaking, and trips to Zeke’s, Bald Head, and Masonboro Islands, Wrightsville Beach, and Holly Shelter Game Land.
***This course is physically demanding. Participants must be able to spend a few hours each day walking or kayaking
This workshop will be held from June 23-June 27, 2014 between 8 am and 4 pm. We are looking for about twenty STEM and Social Studies teachers as well as informal educators of grades 6-12 for this workshop. There is a $40, non-refundable fee and the registration deadline for this workshop is Wednesday June 11, 2014.
